The Morristown Council has appointed Elizabeth Cherello Cregan to fill an unexpired term on the Board of The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (SMCMUA).  A regional authority providing the potable water needs of Morristown, Morris Township, Morris Plains and Hanover Township, SMCMUA is governed by an eight member board with two members from each of the four Creating Municipalities.

Mary E. Dougherty, SMCMUA’S Chair and also a Morristown representative welcomed the newest member of the Board.  “I’ve known Elizabeth and her family for a long time.  She will bring a new, refreshing perspective to our organization.  I know she will be an asset.”

A Morristown native, Ms. Cherello Cregan is a graduate of Morristown High School and the University of Delaware.  She is employed locally in the real estate appraisal industry.  “I’m delighted to join SMCMUA’s Board as they enter their 25th year of operations.  A few of my predecessors like Basil McCabe and Reggie Smith were legends in the Morristown area and helped to guide SMCMUA’s early years.  I know how important this job is to the area’s health and economy”, Ms. Cherello Cregan said.

Recently married, Elizabeth and her husband Keith live in Morristown.  Her term will expire in February 2004.

DATED:  December 21, 2001
